Continuing education for lighting professionals

Now more than ever, professionals in the lighting market need to continue to expand their knowledge and add to their skills and maintain a competitive advantage in a rapidly changing world. The makers of PLDC have therefore developed a new format for interactive seminars for 15-20 professional lighting designers and architects headed by teams of two or three experienced educators: intensive courses that offer serious educational advantages. We call these seminars: PLD-i – Professional Lighting Design interactive. The first PLD-i will be held prior to Light+Building on 13.+ 14. April 2012 in Frankfurt.

It would appear to be a topic that we cannot lay to rest: the phasing out of the incandescent lamp, and its well advertised replacement, the compact fluorescent lamp. As of 1. September it is no longer permitted to manufacture 60 watt incandescent lamps in Europe. Just 14 days later the documentary film “Bulb Fiction” opened in the cinemas.

First steps to a lighting master plan

Jerusalem has become a world famous destination for pilgrims of the three main monotheist religions. The Israeli authorities in charge of the development of Jerusalem decided to create a lighting master plan for the old city and its surroundings in order to promote a night-time image to enhance cultural activities and support tourism. Roger Narboni was commissioned to develop the master plan. One of the first projects to be realised is a pedestrian square with a colourful Greek bazaar in Muristan in the heart of the Christian quarter. The Mora fountain in the centre of the rectangular square is set up on an ellipse comprising strips of stone.

The 302,000-square-foot university property is configured with Encelium Technology's Energy Control SystemTM (ECS).
