The Alströmerska Magasinet, the building in the centre of town, was built by Jonas Alströmer in 1731 and it is the only remaining building from that time. It is, in fact, one of the oldest building in Alingsås.For a long time, Alströmerska Magasinet was used to store goods, wool in particular. In the 1880's the building was sold and made into a dairy. Approximately 40 years later, the dairy was bought by the City Council, who decided to use the building to house the historical references and memories of the town of Alingsås. We at VIA Sweden rent two floors of the building, where we arrange meetings, exhibitions and conferences.
